TV director faces charges for $11M fraud in crypto, luxury car spree

The US Division of Justice (DOJ) has charged tv director Carl Erik Rinsch with defrauding a serious streaming firm of $11 million.

“Carl Erik Rinsch orchestrated a scheme to steal tens of millions by soliciting a big funding from a video streaming service, claiming that cash can be used to finance a tv present that he was creating. Manufacturing funds misuse

Rinsch initially secured funding from a streaming platform—reportedly Netflix—to supply his tv sequence, White Horse.

Between 2018 and 2019, the corporate paid him roughly $44 million to cowl current episodes and full the challenge. Nevertheless, between 2019 and 2020, he demanded an extra $11 million, claiming it was crucial to complete the sequence.

As a substitute of allocating the funds to manufacturing, Rinsch funneled the cash into private investments. He transferred the funds from his firm account right into a brokerage account, participating in speculative securities buying and selling.

Further extravagant purchases included high-end wristwatches, luxurious bedding, and prolonged stays in five-star motels.
